“In the Hollow of the Stones (a Counterfactual History)” is a series of works produced at AlUla and commissioned by the RCU. Following a residency organized by Afalula and the Sigg Foundation, I attempted to escape the temptation of the monumental by articulating, through scattered devices, the richness of mineral erosion with the generativity of AI, a becoming-image of stone. The aim of this report was to rethink the relationship between tradition and modernity by generating an infinite number of counterfactual possibilities from pre-Islamic archaeological artifacts.

Dans “Le creux des pierres (une histoire contrefactuelle)” est une série de travaux réalisés à AlUla et commandités par la RCU. A la suite d’une résidence organisée par Afalula et la Fondation Sigg, j’ai tenté d’échapper à la tentation du monumental en articulant par des dispositifs disséminés, la richesse de l’érosion minérale à la générativité de l’IA, un devenir-image de la pierre. Ce rapport avait comme objectif de repenser la relation entre la tradition et la modernité en générant une infinité de possibilités contrefactuelles à partir d’artefacts archéologiques pré-islamiques.
