Cette installation se compose de 157 vidéos collectées sur YouTube montrant de jeunes Américaines qui se sont filmées exécutant la même chorégraphie R’n’B. Les vidéos sont présentées sous forme d’installation interactive qui réagit à l’apport musical du visiteur.

Lorsqu’un visiteur connecte son lecteur MP3 à l’installation, les vidéos s’adaptent automatiquement à la musique choisie. Le système synchronise les mouvements des danseuses avec le rythme et le volume de la piste audio sélectionnée, créant ainsi une chorégraphie collective personnalisée.

L’œuvre explore les phénomènes d’appropriation culturelle et de partage sur les plateformes sociales, où des individus isolés participent à une expérience commune à travers la reprise d’une même chorégraphie. En permettant au visiteur de modifier la bande sonore, l’installation questionne les notions d’originalité, de remix et d’interaction entre contenu amateur et expérience artistique. Elle met également en lumière les pratiques contemporaines d’autopublication et la façon dont les technologies numériques transforment la diffusion et la réception des expressions corporelles.

This installation consists of 157 videos collected from YouTube showing young American women who filmed themselves performing the same R’n’B choreography. The videos are presented as an interactive installation that reacts to the musical input of the visitor.

When a visitor connects their MP3 player to the installation, the videos automatically adapt to the chosen music. The system synchronizes the dancers’ movements with the rhythm and volume of the selected audio track, thereby creating a personalized collective choreography.

The work explores the phenomena of cultural appropriation and sharing on social platforms, where isolated individuals participate in a common experience through the reproduction of the same choreography. By allowing the visitor to modify the soundtrack, the installation questions the notions of originality, remixing, and the interaction between amateur content and artistic experience. It also highlights contemporary self-publishing practices and the way digital technologies transform the distribution and reception of bodily expressions.
