Cette installation présente un système algorithmique qui extrait des expressions de sentiments publiés sur des blogs et les compile dans une base de données. Toutes les heures, le programme génère automatiquement un livre de 500 pages à partir de ces fragments émotionnels collectés, qui est ensuite imprimé à la demande.
Les 24 livres produits quotidiennement sont disposés dans une structure bibliothécaire conçue pour s’étendre indéfiniment, créant ainsi une archive cumulative des affects numériques. Chaque volume constitue une cartographie temporelle des émotions exprimées en ligne à un moment précis.
L’œuvre questionne la matérialisation des données immatérielles et la transformation d’expressions intimes en objets tangibles. En orchestrant ce passage du numérique à l’imprimé, l’installation explore les tensions entre l’éphémère et le permanent, l’individuel et le collectif, ainsi que les notions d’archivage et de mémoire à l’ère digitale. La bibliothèque devient ainsi un monument aux émotions contemporaines, capturées et organisées systématiquement.
This installation presents an algorithmic system that extracts expressions of sentiment published on blogs and compiles them into a database. Every hour, the program automatically generates a 500-page book from these collected emotional fragments, which is then printed on demand.
The 24 books produced daily are arranged in a library structure designed to extend indefinitely, thereby creating a cumulative archive of digital affects. Each volume constitutes a temporal mapping of emotions expressed online at a specific moment.
The work questions the materialization of immaterial data and the transformation of intimate expressions into tangible objects. By orchestrating this passage from digital to print, the installation explores the tensions between the ephemeral and the permanent, the individual and the collective, as well as notions of archiving and memory in the digital age. The library thus becomes a monument to contemporary emotions, systematically captured and organized.
