In 1988, I spent hours in my bedroom experimenting with images with an Amiga 2000. I mixed video and pixels thanks to a Genlock, I moved in front of a video scanner to realize without knowing it slitscan, I tried 3D with Lightwave, waiting for hours for the end of the calculations. Sometimes I would draw on large sheets of paper, then go down to the basement where I had a photo lab. I did this with no other objective than to try. I did not know then that I was fighting in my own way, in the solitude of my teenage room, against the instrumentality that encloses the world and transforms it into a potential, that is to say into a resource. There was no market, no gallery, no institutions to exhibit in. Since then, I try to persist in this workshop experimentation without mastering or learning my tools, but trying to misuse them in order to use them differently, without expectation and horizon, without finality and will. I try to melt into them, to abandon myself to them so that something other than myself (since one is not oneself) happens. To be an occasion for that, an egarious meeting with the pictorial, photographic or digital matter.
