As a digital technology, 3D printing is synonymous with a paradigm shift for creation and innovation. A new “digital materiality” has created a typology of objects that did not exist before, with 3D printing as the common denominator. From the micro scale (printing living cells) to the macro scale (printing 1:1 scale architectures), from the visible to the infravisible, additive manufacturing raises many questions that concern our daily lives as much as the world of industry and research. This exhibition will bring together a young generation of artists, designers and architects who have taken up 3D printing as a tool for experimentation. “Print the world”, which will take place from 15 March to 19 June 2017 at the Centre Pompidou, will question the status of this 3D “printed” object through the invitation of some forty creators.

Technologie numérique, l’impression 3D est synonyme d’un changement de paradigme pour la création et l’innovation. Une nouvelle « matérialité digitale » a engendré une typologie d’objets qui n’existaient pas auparavant dont l’impression 3D est le commun dénominateur. De l’échelle du micro (imprimer des cellules vivantes) à celle du macro (imprimer des architectures échelle 1 :1), du visible à l’infra-visible, la fabrication additive soulève de multiples questions qui concernent autant notre quotidien que le monde de l’industrie et de la recherche. Cette exposition réunira une jeune génération d’artistes, designers et architectes qui se sont emparés de l’impression 3D comme outil d’expérimentation. « Imprimer le monde » qui se déroulera du 15 mars-19 juin 2017 au Centre Pompidou questionnera le statut de cet objet «imprimé» en 3D à travers l’invitation d’une quarantaine de créateurs.
